Briefly studied B.S. Electrical Engineering from 1994 to 1997 before finishing with a degree in B.A. English Studies: Language in 1999. Passed the U.P. LAE (Law Aptitude Examinations) for three consecutive years in 1999, 2000, and 2001.
Member of the U.P. ROTC Cadet Officers Corps from 1994 to 1997. Member of the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity, elected Herald for three consecutive terms and was the founding vice chairperson of the U.P. Inter-Fraternity League. Founding member of U.P. Lingua Franca.
Cofounder, Manzanares Partners, A General Professional Partnership (GPP). Managing Partner, 2010—2018. The GPP has handled criminal, civil, commercial and labor cases and special proceedings.
The GPP’s specialized work include unsolicited proposals for Public Private Partnerships (PPP) and advisory roles in Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) projects and international supply agreements.
The GPP has been involved in receivership, liquidation and rehabilitation matters, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, takeovers and equity buyouts for international private equity firms and domestic acquirers.
With its startup roots, the GPP has facilitated technology venture partnerships and agreements.
The GPP has counseled real estate developers, contractors, and property investors on commercial contracts, loan arrangements, land conversion, agrarian valuation, land titles and deeds, corporate structures, police and security, regulatory compliance, and government relations.
The GPP has been advisor to domestic and foreign investors in renewable energy projects, mining permits, and the importation and export of commodities, oil, coal and nickel ore, as well as the registration of corporations in the Philippines and other jurisdictions.
From its founding, the GPP has proudly run a parallel Co-operative and Social Enterprise Practice to live up to its mission: ‘We Help Co-operatives Cooperate.’
The office is the first (if not the only) law partnership authorised to register .coop domain names by the DotCooperation LLC (Washington, D.C.) and use the Cooperative Marque.
